Exterra Networks Webcast Checklist
Are you ready to webcast? Here's a list of the things you will need:
- A line out from a radio station sound board, or from your mixing equipment
- A computer which can convert the line output into a digital stream
- Exterra Networks recommends SimpleCast from www.spacialaudio.com for converting and sending the webcast to the server.
- An Internet connection to send the converted digital stream to the server
- The Internet connection will need to be fast enough to upload the stream to the server without buffering. (Buffering on your end due to slow connection issues can cause buffering r blank audio for all of your listeners.)
- A good rule of thumb is to make sure your upload speed is at least 3 times more than your webcast's bit rate. For example, a 128kbps stereo webcast should have a minimum of 384kbps upload in order to function without buffering. To see how fast your connection is, try www.speedtest.net.
- A server, provided by Exterra Networks, which receives your stream and sends it to each individual user
The diagram above shows how each of the items in the checklist come together in order to produce a successful webcast. Exterra Networks is here to assist you in every step along the way to securing your webcast. Please let us know if you have any questions or would like more information on how Exterra Networks can webcast your events!
